EXEMPT : No COMPENSATION CLASS: Seasonal DEPARTMENT: Parks and
Recreation REPORTS TO : Head Swim Team Coach and Aquatic Center
Coordinators JOB SUMMARY : Working under the direction of the Head
Swim Team Coach, the assistant Swim Team Coach will be responsible
for coaching the Lincolnwood Lightning swim team at the Proesel
Park Family Aquatic Center. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Assist with
organization, instruction, and supervision swim team practices
Assist with organization, supervision, and administration of home
meets Assist with maintenance of necessary records for practice and
meets Responsibility for the safety and conduct of team members at
practices, meets, and other swim team events Maintain regular and
open communication with the Head Swim Team Coach Attend meet
preparation meetings and parent orientation as assigned by the Head
Swim Team Coach Accompany and assist with planning end of season
waterpark trip Be familiar with the safe operation of any equipment
necessary in accomplishing required tasks Be aware of emergency
action plans and be prepared to perform assigned role at all times
Wear proper uniform while on duty Comply with all Village policies,
protocols, and procedures Perform other job-related duties as
assigned COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: The wage range for this
position is $16.50-$17.50 per hour. This position is seasonal and
does not qualify for benefits. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To
perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to
perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed

This position requires the following. Must be able to successfully
complete American Red Cross Community First Aid and Safety Previous
experience as a coach or member of a competitive swim team
preferred LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend
instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to properly fill
out incident and accident reports as well be able to communicate in
an emergency situation. REASONING ABILITIES: Ability to solve
practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in
situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to
interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral,
diagram, or schedule form. OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES: Understanding
of the principles, practices, and objectives of Parks and
Recreation administration and of the Proesel Park Family Aquatic
Center Ability to prioritize duties and complete tasks within
allotted hours Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency
situations Ability to communicate with the public tactfully and
courteously Commitment to promoting the positive image of Village
of Lincolnwood Must be available to work a flexible schedule,
including evenings and weekends Ability to maintain efficient and
effective communication with supervisor and subordinates Skill in
the application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques
Ability to pass pre-employment physical skills evaluation as
stipulated by the department Ability to follow routine verbal and
written instructions Knowledge of customer service standards and
procedures PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here
